a marvelous mix of high end stores and
acclaimed restaurants.
Just a few minutes walk to Lincoln Center. Central Park In the foreground; in the background,
the city's imposing skyline.
NY Theatre Tour July 17-20, 2012
You will see 3 top shows. One, Chekov’s
Uncle Vanya, part of the Lincoln Center
Summer Festival plus one or two Broadway
hits. NY Performing Arts Library features
The history of theatre and dance viewable on
videos, books and archival material. Exhibit on
Ziegfield and how he and his rivals remade Broadway.
There’s more: walking tour of theatre district, MOMA
visit and maybe an optional visit to a city surprise. For example,
the High Line, pictured right. Former railroad tracks,

Venice & Florence Sept 7-14, 2012
Dynamic duo, Venice & Florence, delivers a one, two punch
Of grandeur, romance, history, art, literature, food and wine
And shopping. Venice special visit to the three islands of the lagoon:
Burano, Torcello and Murano. From Florence, we travel to the “must
See” towns of Siena and San Gimignano.

London Theatre Beyond the West End
October 2012...date to be confirmed
London theatre dazzles with its scope, variety and
daring. We visit several different theatre venues from a
tiny bookstore that does theatre readings; a pub theatre,
perhaps the Royal Court Theatre, the National Theatre depending
on what’s playing. Plus a walking history tour of the West End and
an optional visit to the Victoria & Albert theatre exhibit.

Literary Venice - The Pen & the Palette
Sept. 16-23, 2012
The world’s great writers of the 19th century. Byron, Henry James,
Proust & others viewed against the backdrop of Venice’s greatest artists including
Tintoretto and Carpaccio. We learn to appreciate the Pen & Palette connection while enjoying Vivaldi,
La Fenice, a spritz and a plate of ciccetti, the distinctive Venetian snack food.
On a lighter note, we will walk along with Donna Leon’s
Legendary, Commissario Brunetti, as he makes his way to work and to his favorite cafes.

Boston: Beyond the Freedom Trail
Oct.4-8, 2012
Quintessential Boston...we examine Boston’s rich
history, then bring the city up-to date with a bow to what makes
Boston fun and frisky now. Boston’s Museum scene: the Museum of Fine Arts
And the Gardner Museum and their recent stunning expansions.
Lobster, of course, but there’s more to savor in Boston restaurants.
