Venice with Pizzazz:  Not Your Average Tours

Experience Venice with these unique half-day and one-day tours you won't find anywhere else:

Private Fenice Opera House Backstage Tour: The revamped Opera House is dazzling, a visual delight. Visit the Royal Box, a couple of the rehearsal halls, try out the comfortable chairs. There is a public tour with about 40 people or you can take our private tour that gives you the personal insight of someone who worked for Fenice for 35 years. He has many private reminiscences to share.

Feedback from clients on our Fenice Backstage Tour
It was very special.  Luciano was wonderful.  We really felt, through meeting him, that we were forming an enduring friendship, and not just being tourists.

Carl from New York

My sister and I very much enjoyed our tour with Luciano, who is informative and enthusiastic about both La Fenice and Venice.

Patricia from London

Are you a collector of Murano? We have two experts with impeccable credentials who can guide you in your search for the perfect Murano piece.

Venice Shopping

Shopping Tour: Unless you’re shopping at the name brand mega boutiques like Gucci, Prada, Etro and Roberto Cavelli, Venice is not an easy shopping city. There are just a handful of boutiques worth searching out. We love the boutique that does a small line of beautiful jackets, bags, shoes and hats ... in velvet in winter, silk in warmer months. There’s also a new shop that is a cooperative and hand looms its own fabrics. A nice selection of scarves, hats, and so on. Then there is our "A list" for great jewelry ... small and very select: Murano, silver and real jewelry. Let us know what you’re looking for and we’ll let you know if you’ll find it in Venice.

Wine Bar Hopping Tour: There are lots of wine bar tours; we think we do it better. One of he best-known wine bars is now terrible. We’ll skip it. On the other hand, another well-known wine bar is terrific. We will take you there. We once spent 3 days looking for a wine bar, and we never found it. We’ll lead you right there.

Venice Food Shopping Venice Food Shopping

Venice Food Shopping

Venice Orientation for Apartment Renters: Renting an apartment in Venice? Once you’ve rented an apartment, you need our orientation tour. Food shopping ... there are just a few supermarkets in Venice with better prices than your small local stores. A must for supermarket shopping: acquiring the right shopping cart and memorizing the off-the-wall hours of operation. Plus you need our list of where to buy the best take-out (for example, the juiciest rotisserie chicken) and the best places to buy cheese, proscuitto, fish, etc. The shortest distance between two points is often circuitous ... learn the different walking shortcuts that will save you time. Should you apply for an ACTV (vaporetto pass)? Yes, if you’re staying more than a week.

Beyond St. Marks Tour: Not your average kind of walking tour. A walk with our good friend, Marina, who is a language teacher and a resident of Venice for 16 years. She originally hails from Rome. You’ll see her favorite places including Madonna dell Orto Church and a seldom visited spot with a magnificent view of the Lagoon. Plus a stop or two for chichetti and a spritz (local favorite drink of Venetians: campari, prosecco, seltzer garnished with a lemon and olive).

Venice Hats Venice Hats

Venice Hats

Literary Leanings Tour: Visit the best bookbinder in Venice in his workshop. For a really offbeat experience, how about a visit to a store crammed with every conceivable kind of hat plus Venetian cloaks and other unrelated zany apparel. Ezra Pound bought his black fedora here. (The store is also the home of the University Press.) Meet the publisher who has translated Chinese poetry and Sophocles into Italian. He’s an original.

Venetian Apartments Tour: What’s behind those shutters, arches and lots of steps? Visit 3 or 4 apartments including a lovely palazzo that isn’t cold and drafty ... a lovely warm home.

Tiny Suite Boutique Hotel: Just twelve luxury suites, with three overlooking St. Mark’s. Very special lodgings.
