Villa Cappelli, is a working agriturismo, so you will be exposed to the olive and fruit orchards. A broad definition of an agriturismo is a working farm that accepts tourists for meals and/or stays. They range from the rustic to the elegant such as Villa Cappelli.
The Villa has 10 bedrooms, numerous common spaces, a beautiful pool and a welcoming kitchen where guests are encouraged to help with the cooking.

Your 7 days in Puglia delves into the history of the area, its food and culture.
Enjoy a variety of meals out at 2 agriturismos and local informal restaurants specializing in the regional cuisine, and a seaside restaurant. Meals at the villa are varied with a very special seafood dinner.
We enjoy many local sightseeing tours to explore local history and architectural wonders.
SATURDAY…ARRIVE AT THE VILLA BY PLANE FROM ROME, MILAN OR VENICE TO BARI, JUST 20 MINUTES FROM THE VILLA LOCATED ON THE ACIENT APPIAN WAY, A FEW KILOMETERES INLAND FROM THE ADRIATIC SEA.
Or you can choose to take a train from Rome, about 4 ½ hours. You may want to start your trip with a few days in Rome. Either way you will be picked up at the airport or the Bari train station.
According to your arrival time, enjoy a light lunch and relax.
Welcome dinner sampling Villa Cappelli’s own extra virgin olive oil and other delicacies of the region.
SUNDAY…MORNING VISIT TO THE MUGLIA AREA OF PUGLIA WHERE WE WILL VISIT A LOCAL ARTISANAL CHEESE MAKER AND WATCH MOZZARELLA BEING MADE. Sampling, of course. If you have never tasted just made mozzarella you have a real treat in store.
Next, visit Gravina, a small gem of a town with a spectacular ravine with an amazing Roman bridge spanning the ravine. Optional short walk down into the ravine to explore its caves.

Lunch back at the villa…
Afternoon…explore some of the sites nearby. There is a double trulli just down the road from the villa. Puglia is famous for its trullis, stone homes made without any mortar. There is also an ancient church nearby built in 1150 AD.
Evening… dinner in Terlizzi
Castles & Wine… Castel del Monte, a UNESCO WORLD HERITAGE SITE built in the 13th century by the Emperor, Fredrick 11. The Castle is perched on a hill overlooking all of Puglia and the Adriatic. The castle is featured in many myths and legends including the Holy Grail.

Evening… a sommelier will visit the villa and give us some tips on wine tasting.

Dinner at a local restaurant in Ruvo.
Matera, another amazing UNESCO World Heritage Site. One part of the town spills down a hillside, and another features homes, restaurants and hotels bult in caves in the soft rock.

Hannibal and Trani…
We travel back in time to 216 B.C. and the Battle of Cannae, a major battle of the Second Punic War, near the town of Cannae. Here Hannibal decisively defeated an army of the Roman Republic, and it is regarded as one of the greatest tactical feats in military history.
Lunch at the famous agritorismo Antici di Sapore with dozens of regional specialties. Lavish meals in Puglia feature dozens of different dishes.
Arrivederci with transport to Bari airport or train station.
